Dorplan supports Fire Door Safety Week 2024

Fire Door Safety Week, organised by the British Woodworking Federation, is dedicated to raising awareness of the essential role fire doors play in saving lives and protecting property during a fire emergency.

Everyone has a responsibility to ensure fire doors function correctly in the event of a fire, from the manufacturers to the people using the building. Understanding what to look for and how to address potential problems can be lifesaving.

Launched in 2013 in response to years of neglect toward fire doors, the campaign this year runs from 23rd to 27th September 2024. Fire doors are designed specifically to slow the spread of fire and smoke, providing critical protection for both people and property.

To ensure fire doors perform as intended, factors like manufacturing quality, proper installation, and regular maintenance are key. Correct specification and management can make the difference between life and death. For example, leaving a fire door propped open can prevent it from functioning properly in a fire.

The annual Fire Door Safety Week campaign exists to remind building owners and users of the importance of checking the condition and operation of fire doors, and to encourage reporting of any issues that may compromise their effectiveness.

The campaign also aims to educate people on the correct specification, installation, use, and upkeep of fire doors to ensure their safety function is never compromised.

At Dorplan, ensuring that our fire doors meet your safety needs is our top priority. With over 30 years of experience, we not only supply high-quality fire doors but also provide education on the requirements necessary for their safe and reliable performance.
