Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification is a globally recognised certification system that ensures that forest products are responsibly managed providing environmental, social, and economic benefits. Companies can obtain FSC certification for their wood products by following certain guidelines and procedures.

The scope of certification for Dorplan covers the purchase, machining, assembly, and the sale of FSC doors, frames, and architraves.

Here’s an overview of the steps involved:

  1. Selection and Documentation of FSC-Certified Materials: Our construction materials are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. These materials include timber, plywood, laminates, and other wood products sourced from responsibly managed forests. Our documentation and records are maintained to demonstrate the chain of custody for FSC-certified materials.
  2. Certification of the Supply Chain: We ensure that our supply chains, from the forest to the construction site, is FSC-certified. This involves tracing the origin of the wood products back to FSC-certified forests and ensuring that all intermediaries in the supply chain are also FSC-certified.
  3. Compliance with FSC Standards: We adhere to the FSC’s principles and criteria for responsible forest management, which cover aspects such as biodiversity conservation, indigenous peoples’ rights, community relations, and environmental impact assessments.
  4. Renewal and Continuous Improvement: Our maintenance of the FSC certification is a priority.  Through regular audits and assessments, we make sure to meet evolving sustainability requirements.

There are two main standards that Dorplan have passed under FSC. These standards are FSCSTD-40-004 (Version 3.0) EN and FSC-STD-50-001 (Version 2.0) EN.

  • FSCSTD-40-004 (Version 3.0) EN, also known as the FSC Chain of Custody standard. This standard specifies procedures for companies to obtain, maintain, and communicate accurate information about the origin of FSC-certified materials in their products.
  • FSC-STD-50-001 (Version 2.0) EN, on the other hand, pertains to the FSC Controlled Wood standard. This standard sets out requirements for avoiding wood from unacceptable sources in the FSC supply chain.

By following these steps, Dorplan obtained FSC certification, showing our commitment to these rigorous industry standards. It’s important for Dorplan to stay updated on the latest versions of these standards and ensure ongoing compliance to maintain our certification status.
